Optimal Fractional Factorial Plans for Asymmetric Factorials
Fractional factorial plans for asymmetric factorial experiments are obtained. These are shown to be universally optimal within the class of all plans involving the same number of runs under a model that includes the mean, all main effects and a specified set of two-factor interactions. Finite projective geometry is used to obtain such plans for experiments wherein the number of levels of each o...
متن کاملFactorials of Arbitrary Sets of Integers
Given any subset of Z we associate to it another set on which we can define one or more (generally independent) abstract factorial functions. These associated sets are studied and arithmetic relations are revealed. In addition, we show that for an abstract factorial function of an infinite subset of Z the series of reciprocals of its factorials is always an irrational number.
متن کاملA "Four Integers" Theorem and a "Five Integers" Theorem
The recent exciting results by Bhargava, Conway, Hanke, Kaplansky, Rouse, and Schneeberger concerning the representabiltity of integers by positive integral quadratic forms in any number of variables are presented. These results build on the earlier work of Dickson, Halmos, Ramanujan, and Willerding on quadratic forms. Two results of this type for positive diagonal ternary forms are proved. The...
متن کاملBinomial Coefficient Predictors
For a prime p and nonnegative integers n, k, consider the set A (p) n,k = {x ∈ [0, 1, ..., n] : p|| ( n x ) }. Let the expansion of n + 1 in base p be n + 1 = α0p ν + α1p ν−1 + · · · + αν , where 0 ≤ αi ≤ p − 1, i = 0, . . . , ν. Then n is called a binomial coefficient predictor in base p(p-BCP), if |A (p) n,k| = αkp , k = 0, 1, . . . , ν. We give a full description of the p-BCP’s in every base p.
متن کاملBinomial and factorial congruences for Fq[t]
We present several elementary theorems, observations and questions related to the theme of congruences satisfied by binomial coefficients and factorials modulo primes (or prime powers) in the setting of polynomial ring over a finite field. When we look at the factorial of n or the binomial coefficient ‘n choose m’ in this setting, though the values are in a function field, n and m can be usual ...
